UIDAI introduces Face Authentication

In a landmark move to make Aadhaar authentications more easier, the UIDAI today announced the introduction of Face Authentication as an additional authentication option.

At present, Aadhaar authentications are carried out using biometrics like fingerprints and iris scans, followed by an OTP verification on the Aadhaar-holder’s registered mobile number. While most are easily able to authenticate themselves using fingerprint or iris authentications, some like old people and manual labourers weren’t able to biometrically verify their identity because of worn out fingerprints due to old age, or hard working conditions. Face Authentication gets rid of these technical challenges and presents a holistic solution to a flawless authentication experience.
